Church Services in the Benefice

There are two Sunday morning services held alternately at St Michael’s, Atworth and Christ Church, Shaw.  On the weeks when there are no morning services in the church we hold an evening service at 6 p.m.  This may be a time of quiet prayer with reflective music and readings and may also include specific prayer for healing.

The Traditional Parish Communion service at 9.30 am uses the form of worship contained in The Book of Common Worship with hymns.  On a regular basis our singing is led by our choir and an anthem is sung.  The service lasts for around an hour with Fairtrade tea, coffee, squash and biscuits served afterwards - either in the church hall in Atworth or at the back of the church in Shaw.

11 o’clock Live at 11 am is an informal style of worship, during which our children’s group COAST meets providing a lively programme of activities.  (See “Young People”).  The service uses contemporary music led by our “Singers” and a small group of instrumentalists and lasts around one hour.  Please join us at 10.30 am for refreshments before the service.

11 o’clock Live with communion is held on the 4th Sunday in the month in Shaw with the inclusion of the celebration of communion.

Let’s Celebrate Together at 11 am is an all age non communion service held on the 3rd Sunday in the month in Atworth.  The interactive service usually lasts no more than an hour and features lively music, craft activities and discussion points.

A Said Communion service using the Book of Common Worship is held at Christ Church, Shaw at 7 pm on the first, third and fifth Tuesdays of every month.

A Said Communion service using the traditional Book of Common Prayer, is held at 9.30 am at St Michael and All Angels, Atworth on the second and fourth Wednesdays.
